Trend Alert : Recycled beds

In love with these raw wooden beds, made out of recycled planks of wood. They have so much personality and add warmth to any room. Which one is your favorite?

J'aime cette sélection de structures de lit fabriquées à partir de planches de bois brut. Elles donnent tellement de caractère à ces chambres à coucher! Laquelle est votre préférée?

  14. Hi there,

I love this trend; only problem is, how do you know if a recycled bed isn't a breeding ground for wood-eating nymphs? Most times, beds or planks that are unusable have various problems, one of them being insect infestation. Is there a method one can use to prepare wood for recycling before turning it into these gorgeous pieces?

    1. Hey Alana! Most scaffold wood planks come pretreaed with fungicide and pesticide treatment.. Personally, when i used old planks to create my own pieces of furniture, I cleaned them with Savon de Marseille, known for its insecticide properties, then applied two coats or insect killing products before applying my wood wax - also known to naturally repel bugs. Never had any issues with any uninvited creatures.
